Protein Waffles
Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day,
and more if it is sweet.
Most breakfasts are just carbs, but these fluffy waffles have 10g of protein (per waffle). They’re made with simple ingredients that I am sure you already have in your kitchen.
| Makes about: 5 servings |
Ingredients:
1 Banana
3 eggs (3 whites, 1 yolk)
2 tbsp. almond milk
2 tsp. Greek yogurt
½ cup rolled oats
½ tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 stevia packet
1 scoop of chocolate or vanilla protein powder
Pinch of salt
Cooking spray
Directions:
You'll need a waffle iron to make these protein waffles.
Just 4 simple steps are all you need to follow to make this recipe.
Preheat waffle iron.
While the waffle iron is heating up, you can toss all your ingredients into a blender and mix until everything is fully combined.
Grease the inside of the waffle maker with some cooking spray (I like using coconut or avocado oil), then, gently pour the batter into the center of the waffle iron.
CAUTION: If you overfill the waffle iron, your batter will overflow out of the machine, and you certainly don't want that
Let the protein waffles cook for around 10 minutes or until golden brown. Most waffle irons even have a light that indicates when the waffles are done. So you can even use that as a guide as well.
I like to serve my waffles with a drizzle of maple syrup or sugar-free syrup, strawberries and blueberries.
You can also add any fruits you'd like: bananas, shredded coconut apples, chopped nuts, etc. all taste great on them. Also, sometimes I even like to sprinkle dark chocolate chips or chia seeds.
